Let's study marine life and coastal ecosystems! Students progress from observation and classification to organism adaptations, ecological interactions, conservation, and an independent scientific investigation. The videos and lessons are designed for remote learners to learn from a combination of Marine Life Learning field demonstrations along with the corresponding lesson guides and optional in-person or hybrid labs for remote learners. Let's talk about the physical forces that shape our coast! Students progress from observing wave behavior and coastal topography to studying forces, motion, energy, erosion, and engineered shorelines. They use measurements, calculations, and experimental evidence to design, test, and improve a coastal solution. Videos combine Marine Life Learning field demonstrations with lesson guides and optional in-person or hybrid labs for remote learners. LEARN MORE HERE
Lab Days
In-person marine biology and coastal engineering labs will be held in the following locations:
La Jolla Shores Lab Days
Marine Biology Labs will be done at La Jolla Shores on Fridays at 12:45 PM on January 15, 22, 29 and February 5. Hybrid learners must attend the first session in person.
Mission Beach & Bay Lab Days
Coastal Engineering Labs will be done at in Mission Beach and Bay February 26, March 5, 12, and 19. Hybrid learners must attend the first session in person.
Torrey Pines Lab Days
Marine Biology Labs will be done at Torrey Pines State Beach (North) on Fridays in April at 12:45PM. Hybrid learners must attend the first session in person.
